There was good news for the fans of the gruesome horror Hollywood franchise \u2018Evil Dead<\/em>\u2018 as a spinoff film is officially in the works.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A report by Comic Book stated that award-winning director S\u00e9bastien Vani\u010dek has been confirmed to direct the spinoff film. The director is best known for his work in \u2018Infested<\/em>.\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It follows a man who collects exotic animals and accidentally lets a deadly spider that rapidly reproduces loose in his French apartment complex. \u2018<\/span>Infested<\/span><\/em>\u2018 won the \u201cBest Picture\u201d and \u201cBest Director\u201d awards at Fantastic Fest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The spinoff film will not be connected to the main \u2018Evil Dead<\/em>\u2018 universe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The franchise, which incorporates horror and comedy, began with the film of the same name in 1981. The Sam Raimi-directed flick followed Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) and his four friends travelling to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release demons.<\/span><\/p>\n

The film, which saw its fair share of controversies, was followed by sequels \u2018Dead by Dawn<\/em>\u2018 and \u2018Army of Darkness<\/em>\u2018. It was rebooted in 2013 with \u2018The Evil Dead<\/em>\u2018 and a Netflix show \u2018Ash vs Evil Dead<\/em>\u2018 was released in 2017.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The fifth film in the franchise, \u2018Evil Dead Rise<\/em>\u2018, was released in 2023 and it became the highest-grossing installment in the franchise with gross earnings of $147 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is pertinent to mention that Bruce Campbell, who produces the franchise, said they are looking to step up the content production.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to do them probably more like every two to three years now, rather than every 10 years,\u201d Bruce Campbell said in an interview with Collider. \u201cBut, hey, we\u2019ve seen with Star Wars \u2013 you don\u2019t want to wear people out. Keep them guessing! We never wore out our welcome with Evil Dead because we never choked them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, \u2018Evil Dead Rise\u2019 director Lee Cronin hoped that his version of the franchise would continue with new lore.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLook, [another\u00a0<\/span>\u2018Evil Dead<\/span><\/em>\u2018] is always a possibility. I had a great experience making this movie with some really great people, and in success, that makes you look at what is possible next\u2026 it\u2019s also very tempting to look back into this world, particularly the characters that have survived and the new lore that I\u2019ve brought into play,\u201d Lee Cronin said in an interview with THR.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He added, \u201cSo it\u2019s certainly something to be discussed. It\u2019s something that we discussed on set, because when you\u2019re making a movie in a franchise, you\u2019re always talking about what\u2019s next and what\u2019s possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
