{"id":5669,"date":"2023-09-19T15:00:07","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T15:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/sara-sharif-murder-case-british-pakistani-trio-to-face-trial-over-girls-death-next-year\/"},"modified":"2023-09-19T15:00:07","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T15:00:07","slug":"sara-sharif-murder-case-british-pakistani-trio-to-face-trial-over-girls-death-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/sara-sharif-murder-case-british-pakistani-trio-to-face-trial-over-girls-death-next-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Sara Sharif murder case: British-Pakistani trio to face trial over girl\u2019s death next year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>The father of a 10-year-old girl whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1770731\">death<\/a> in UK sparked an international manhunt in Pakistan will face trial for her murder next year.<\/p>\n<p>Sara Sharif\u2019s body was discovered at the family home near Woking, southern England, on August 10, the day after her father, Urfan Sharif, flew to Islamabad.<\/p>\n<p>An early morning emergency call alerting officers to Sara\u2019s death was made from Pakistan by a man identifying himself as the father, according to detectives.<\/p>\n<p>The house was otherwise empty, and the manhunt continued with Interpol and Britain\u2019s foreign ministry coordinating with authorities in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>Sharif, a 41-year-old taxi driver, travelled to Pakistan with his partner Beinash Batool, 29, his brother Faisal Malik, 28, and Sharif\u2019s other five children.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1774298\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>All three adults have been charged with Sara\u2019s murder and on Tuesday appeared via video link before a judge at London\u2019s Old Bailey court.<\/p>\n<p>The trio, who are also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child, were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1775673\">arrested<\/a> last week after disembarking from a flight from Dubai after spending a month in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>A post-mortem examination found Sara had sustained \u201cmultiple and extensive injuries\u201d over a long period.<\/p>\n<p>At Tuesday\u2019s hearing, the three spoke only to confirm their names and addresses and were remanded in custody until a pre-trial hearing on December 1.<\/p>\n<p>The trial is expected to start on September 2, 2024, and last six weeks.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The father of a 10-year-old girl whose death in UK sparked an international manhunt in Pakistan will face trial for her murder next year.
