Hollywood star Margot Robbie has finally shared her first statement after she and her Barbie<\/em> director, Greta Gerwig were snubbed from this year’s Oscars nominations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no way to feel sad when you know you\u2019re this blessed,\u201d Robbie told Variety<\/em> about the snub while adding that it was her director Gerwig\u2019s lack of inclusion in the best director race that was a bit more upsetting. \u201cObviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director. What she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing. What she pulled off, it really is. But it\u2019s been an incredible year for all the films.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robbie said, later adding, \u201cEveryone getting the nods that they\u2019ve had is just incredible, and the best picture nod.\u201d She continued, \u201cWe set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact. And it\u2019s already done that and some, way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople\u2019s reactions to the movie have been the biggest reward of this entire experience,\u201d she furthered. \u201cWhether it\u2019s seeing what people are writing online, or even just seeing how much pink I can see in this room right now\u2026I\u2019ve never been a part of something like this. Not like this. I\u2019ve done comic book stuff and that gets a big reaction, but this felt very different. It still feels very different. And I can\u2019t think of a time when a movie has had this effect on culture. And it\u2019s amazing to be in the eye of the storm.\u201d<\/p>\n

The joint Oscar snubs for both Robbie and Gerwig became a source of controversy after this year’s Academy Award nominations were revealed. Responding to the snubs, their fellow nominees, Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, individually conveyed their disappointment with the Academy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat Margot achieved as an actress is truly unbelievable,\u201d Ferrera told Variety. \u201cOne of the things about Margot as an actress is how easy she makes everything look. Perhaps people got fooled into thinking that the work seems easy, but Margot is a magician as an actress in front of the screen\u2026In my book, she\u2019s a master.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gosling added, \u201cThere is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no \u2018Barbie\u2019 movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally celebrated film. No recognition would be possible for anyone in the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I\u2019m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.\u201d<\/p>\n
