British heartthrob Henry Cavill applauded \u2018James Bond\u2019<\/em> star Daniel Craig for his era as the 007 agent, despite losing the role to him.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite losing out on the career-defining role to English actor Daniel Craig,\u00a0the \u2018Justice League\u2019<\/em> star Henry Cavill hailed the former for his five-film \u2018James Bond\u2019<\/em> era.<\/p>\n

In one of the recent promotional outings for his upcoming spy actioner \u2018Argylle\u2019<\/em>, with director Matthew Vaughn, the former DC star reflected on the journey of Craig as the tuxedo-clad British agent, starting from\u00a0\u2018Casino Royale\u2019<\/em>\u00a0(2006).<\/p>\n

In response to \u2018Argylle\u2019<\/em> director, who believed there were hijinks surrounding those who have played Bond, Cavill disagreed saying, \u201cFirst of all,\u00a0I don\u2019t think there\u2019s a curse for those kinds of things, but I do think Daniel [Craig] did an absolutely amazing job.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he and everyone else involved breathed new life into the franchise, which did it wonders,\u201d he added about Craig, who continued to reprise the coveted role in \u2018Quantum of Solace\u2019, \u2018Skyfall\u2019, \u2018Spectre\u2019<\/em> and his final outing \u2018No Time To Die\u2019<\/em> in 2021.<\/p>\n

Notably, it was earlier reported that Cavill was also in the running for the role in 2005, when Craig came on board the franchise. According to the director Martin Campbell, Cavill would have been surely featured as the iconic spy if Craig hadn\u2019t existed.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe looked great in the audition. His acting was tremendous. And look, if Daniel didn\u2019t exist, Henry would have made an excellent Bond,\u201d Campbell had said in an interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe looked terrific, he was in great physical shape\u2026very handsome, very chiselled. He just looked a little young at that time back then,\u201d he reasoned.<\/p>\n
