An\u00a0anti-terrorism court (ATC)\u00a0has acquitted \u00a0high profile suspects associated with a banned sectarian extremist outfit \u00a0in cases \u00a0involving\u00a0the\u00a0recovery of significant amounts of explosives, a police encounter,\u00a0and possession of illegal weapons.<\/p>\n

The verdict was delivered by\u00a0the ATC while\u00a0hearing\u00a0the\u00a0cases at\u00a0the\u00a0Anti- Terrorism Complex in\u00a0Karachi Central Jail. The\u00a0prosecution and Counter Terrorism Department\u00a0(CTD) authorities faced challenges in establishing\u00a0the charges related to the recovery of over 2,000kg of\u00a0explosives. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Consequently,\u00a0the ATC acquitted four accused\u00a0from the banned organisaTion, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. The acquitted suspects\u00a0include \u00a0Zafar, alias Sain, Qari \u00a0Javed, \u00a0Muhammad \u00a0Wazir, and \u00a0Syed Hasan \u00a0 Ali. In \u00a02017, the CTD \u00a0claimed to have dismantled a sleeper cell \u00a0associated with\u00a0the\u00a0banned outfit during an operation\u00a0in\u00a0Mehran Town, Korangi.<\/p>\n

According to the prosecution, the operation led to the recovery of \u00a0more than 2,000kg of \u00a0explosives, RPG rockets, Mortar shells, and \u00a0suicide jackets.
