Hari Kumar told broadcaster <em>CNN-News 18<\/em> on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s ties with Maldives have come under strain after Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1778832\">election<\/a> win last year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1779230\">pledging<\/a> to end his country\u2019s \u201cIndia First\u201d policy and later calling for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1805812\">withdrawal<\/a> of Indian troops by March 15.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1794876\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Muizzu\u2019s decisions are seen as a pivot away from India to build <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1804771\">stronger ties<\/a> with China in a region where New Delhi and Beijing compete for influence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe await instructions, whatever is the decision,\u201d Kumar said when asked about the return of defence personnel from Maldives, adding that New Delhi has \u201cnot really\u201d issued any communication to the navy so far.<\/p>\n<p>A contingent of around 80 Indian soldiers are stationed on the Indian Ocean archipelago nation to provide support for military equipment given to Male by New Delhi and assist in humanitarian activities.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India\u2019s government has not told its defence personnel to pull out from Maldives following a request from Male, Indian Navy Chief Admiral R.
