ISLAMABAD \u2013 The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Thursday granted permission to PTI leader Sanaullah Masti Khel to contest elections from NA-91, Bhakar.<\/p>\n

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa passed the order while hearing the plea of the PTI leader.<\/p>\n

The CJP asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) if the ballot papers had been printed, and the commission confirmed the ballot papers are ready for printing.<\/p>\n

The ECP informed the top court that Sanaullah Masti Khel\u2019s name was initially included in the list, and he had also been assigned an electoral symbol. However, the Lahore High Court Multan Bench declared his candidacy null and void.<\/p>\n

The top court directed the ECP to include Sanaullah Masti Khel\u2019s name in the ballot papers.<\/p>\n

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President and former Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi also appealed to the apex court. He made the ECP and the Election Tribunal as the respondents and asked the top court to set aside the Verdict of the Lahore High Court given on January 13, 2024.<\/p>\n

Parvez Elahi said that the allegations levelled against him by candidate Muhammad Saleem were baseless. He said that he was accused of having shares in Lahore Modern Floor Mills. He said that there was no such mills and no bank account was even active in this regard.<\/p>\n

He said that he never bought shares of the said mills while an dysfunctional mills was not considered as an asset. Parvez Elahi said that he could not be barred from contesting elections on the basis of baseless allegations.<\/p>\n

He asked the apex court to allow him to contest upcoming elections.<\/p>\n
