The Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwar ul Haq Kakar, held meeting with the cabinet on the Iran-Pakistan ties. The meeting came after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan informed PM Kakar about the tensions between Pak-Iran ties.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Caretaker PM Kakar, highlighted the brotherly ties between both the nations. Noting which, he said that, \u201cPakistan and Iran<\/a> are two brotherly countries that have historically enjoyed fraternal and cooperative relations marked by respect and affection. It was in the interest of both the counties to take steps for restoration of the relationship to what it was earlier to January 16, 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Iran had launched strikes in Pakistan launching targets on what it described as bases for the militants group Jaish-al-Adl in the border town of Panjgur in Balochistan.<\/p>\n

The very next day, Pakistan struck \u201chideouts used by the terrorist organizations namely Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF)\u201d in Iran\u2019s Sistan-Bauchestan province, in an intelligence-based operation which was codenamed as \u201cMarg Bar Sarmachar.\u201d<\/p>\n

Around nine people were killed in the attack targeting a village in the city of Saravan, with Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi stating that all the dead \u201cwere foreign nationals.\u201d<\/p>\n

After knowing about this, PM Kakar who was in Switzerland for the 54th<\/sup> Annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), decided to cut short his visit.<\/p>\n

A statement has been issued by the Prime Minister\u2019s Office (PMO) said that the Ministry of Foreign<\/a> Affairs briefed the caretaker federal cabinet about the situation arising from Tuesday\u2019s attack such as its details and Pakistan\u2019s response.<\/p>\n

PM Kakar said that, \u201cit was in the interest of both the nations to take steps to restore the relationship to what it was prior to January 16.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that, \u201cPakistan would welcome and reciprocate all the positive measures from the Iranian side in the above regard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alongside this, he recalled that Pakistan and Iran have always been brotherly nations that have historically enjoyed fraternal and cooperative relations marked by the respect and affection.<\/p>\n

Kakar said that Pakistan was a \u201claw-abiding and peace-loving nation\u201d which sought friendly and cooperative relations with all the nations, specifically its neighbours.<\/p>\n
