The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the reinstatement plea of an Intelligence Bureau (IB) inspector dismissed for using a non-custom paid vehicle. A three-member bench, presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, heard the case. The petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that the dismissal was a consequence of the inspector’s use of a non-custom paid vehicle.<\/p>\n

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa pressed the petitioner’s lawyer, asking, “Do you admit that the car was with you?” The response came asserting that the vehicle in question belonged to a friend and was used for a single day. However, the CJP was quick to retort, saying, “Don’t lie; you have done no favours to anyone”.<\/p>\n

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar pointed out another violation, stating that a fake official number plate had been affixed to the non-custom paid vehicle.
CJP Isa expressed concern over the misuse of powers while being a part of an institution like the Intelligence Bureau. He emphasised the discreet nature of IB’s operations, stating, “The Intelligence Bureau does not tell anyone what it is doing. IB does not do its projection; it does its work silently”.<\/p>\n

The CJP raised concerns about the impact on the institution with individuals engaging in such misconduct: “What will happen to the institution if people like you are in the Intelligence Bureau?” “I am concerned about the public, not you. Police and intelligence agencies have a standard of the job.”<\/p>\n

He further said, “Instead of this job, you should do something else.” Subsequently, the court dismissed the application for reinstatement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
