He has been at the forefront at a time when the majority of PTI\u2019s core leadership is in hiding or has parted ways.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1806157\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>He has been catapulted into the spotlight over the past few months due to his fiery addresses at the party\u2019s public events. On Sunday, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1805902\">launched<\/a> the party\u2019s election campaign from Sindh.<\/p>\n<p>However, PTI spokesperson Hasan, in an interview on <em>Neo News Urdu<\/em> last night, said the party \u201cdoes not own statements\u201d issued by Marwat. \u201cHe does not reflect the party position and has no post within the PTI,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Questioned about Marwat\u2019s meetings with Imran in jail, Hasan said the PTI founder was only allowed to meet his lawyers, sisters and spouse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo date, no political leader of the party has been allowed to meet him [Imran],\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApart from me, none of the members of the party\u2019s senior leadership have been given permission to meet Imran,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, in a video widely being circulated on social media, senior PTI leader Barrister Hamid said he didn\u2019t \u201crecognise\u201d Marwat and rejected the claim that he was representing the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no conflict within. There are two to three people who are sent and they try to create rifts within the party,\u201d he said, asserting that there was no fissure in the PTI.<\/p>\n<p>These statements come after <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link--external\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/murtazaviews\/status\/1746929161975804222?s=46&amp;t=SQ_YTmOYDNypxdk6z5XqwQ\">videos<\/a> circulated online of Marwat casting aspersions on President Arif Alvi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArif Alvi <em>sahib<\/em> is a wrong number. Alvi\u2019s son had applied for the [PTI] ticket but I had opposed allotting him the ticket,\u201d Marwat said, claiming that the president had \u201cconspired\u201d against the party.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to Raoof and Hamid\u2019s statements in a post on social media platform X today, Marwat said: \u201cKeeping in view the statements against me by sick-minded people like Hamid Khan and Raoof Hasan, I am calling off my campaign in Sindh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy these people are targeting me? Did I ever talk against them? I am so disheartened and feel so dejected,\u201d he wrote, adding that the party was supposed to hold conventions in Sanghar and Nawabshah today but he had cancelled all the events after being \u201cattacked\u201d by the party\u2019s senior leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Marwat further said that he would not lead any rally and was leaving Sindh \u201chalf finished\u201d until the matter was settled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet Hamid Khan and Raoof Hasan muster courage and lead the public. Initially, you tried to take me out of the legal team and now you want me to leave the campaign. I leave the campaign field to you. Show your strength and courage,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate tweet, Marwat called Hasan a \u201cconspirator\u201d and alleged that the latter was creating rifts in the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe spoke against me a few times on electronic media. This time he has disputed the meeting with Imran on January 13, which was held in the presence of half a dozen lawyers, including Imran\u2019s spouse, his sisters, Ejaz Buttar and Naeem Haider Panjotha. One can confirm this with these persons,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis old devil has started this campaign to undermine the successful campaign of Sindh,\u201d Marwat added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, during a media talk outside Adiala Jail, PTI senior leader Barrister Gohar Khan said Marwat was still a part of the party and would be contesting the February 8 elections from Lakki Marwat. He also urged party workers to refrain from getting into rifts.<\/p>\n<p>It must be recalled that Marwat also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1778431\">got into a spat<\/a> with two senior PTI leaders last year, exposing the shortcomings of the legal wing of the former ruling party.<\/p>\n<p>Marwat had called Advocate Shoaib Sha\u00ad\u00adheen a traitor and ac\u00ad\u00adcused him of entering the PTI legal team with the backing of a couple of party leaders. He had also alleged that Shaheen had leaked their legal strategies to the opposing side.<\/p>\n<p>However, the party had officially distanced itself from Marwat\u2019s statement and implicitly supported Shaheen.<\/p>\n<p>In November, the PTI had also <a href=\"https:\/\/about:blank\">denied<\/a> a statement by Marwat, who had claimed that Imran would not contest the intra-party polls for the slot of party chairman and that he had picked someone to contest in his stead.
