It followed Pete \u201cMaverick\u201d Mitchell (Tom Cruise) and fellow students at the United States Navy\u2019s elite fighter weapons school competing to be best in the class.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"ast-oembed-container \" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe title=\"Top Gun - Final Dogfight\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jqfXXaOisKo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>A sequel \u2018<em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>\u2018 was released in 2022. In the second film, Maverick becomes a trainer and leads his team in a dangerous mission.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"ast-oembed-container \" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe title=\"Top Gun: Maverick (2022) \u2013 New Trailer - Paramount Pictures\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g4U4BQW9OEk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>A report by the US showbiz website Fandomwire reported \u2018<em>Top Gun 3<\/em>\u2018 is in the works with Tom Cruise returning to play the leading role.<\/p>\n<p>He is not the only star returning as Miles Teller and Glen Powell will reprise their respective roles of Bradley \u201cRooster\u201d Bradshaw and Jake \u201cHangman\u201d Seresin from the second film.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" style=\"background: #FFF; border: 0; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: 0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width: 540px; min-width: 326px; padding: 0; width: calc(100% - 2px);\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CzhEEVcJNOZ\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ehren Kruger, co-writer of \u2018<em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>\u2018 script, is returning as the screenplay writer. Joseph Kosinski is expected to return as director or producer.<\/p>\n<p>David Ellison and Jerry Bruckheimer are also reportedly involved in the planned project.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected to be Tom Cruise\u2019s next film after \u2018<em>Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning \u2013 Part Two<\/em>\u2018. Paramount Pictures, which produces \u2018<em>Top Gun<\/em>\u2018 films, has not confirmed the development.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Kosinski had talked about \u2018<em>Top Gun 3<\/em>\u2018 in an interview with entertainment news agency Comicbook. According to him, it was not the end for Maverick and the character wants to continue doing his stuff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs there another story that is compelling enough that we need to go back?\u201d he said. \u201cIt seems to me at the end of this film that Maverick has some gas left in the tank.
