SC second senior most Judge Ijazul Ahsan resigns<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

ISLAMABAD: Second senior most judge of Supreme Court Justice Ijazul Ahsan has resigned from his post and sent his resignation to the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi.<\/p>\n

Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan was to become the Chief Justice of Pakistan after Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa. Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan was the most senior judge after Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, who would retire on March 10, 2024.<\/p>\n

After Qazi Faiz Isa, Justice Ejazul Hasan was to become the Chief Justice. After the resignation of Justice Ejazul Hasan, now Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will become the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Justice Ejaz Ul Ahsan did not attend the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council today.<\/p>\n

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will become the Chief Justice in October 2024. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will be the Chief Justice of Pakistan for about three years till November 2027.<\/p>\n

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has become part of the Supreme Judicial Council with the resignation of Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan. Two vacancies among the seventeen judges in the Supreme Court of Pakistan have been vacant.<\/p>\n

People from all walks of life particularly legal faternity and political circle expressed their surprise over the resignation of Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan separated from the Supreme Judicial Council(SJC), after which Justice Mansoor was included in the council.<\/p>\n

An open meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa on the complaint against Justice Mazahar Naqvi in \u200b\u200bwhich Justice Sardar Tariq, Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Amir Bhatti and Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Naeem Akhtar Afghan participated. However, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan did not attend the council meeting.<\/p>\n

In the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council, no one appeared in the council on behalf of former judge Mazahar Naqvi, on which the Chief Justice questioned whether Justice Mazahar Naqvi\u2019s lawyer Khawaja Haris or his juniors are present.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, who was facing \u2018misconduct\u2019 allegations in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) forwarded his resignation to the President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi<\/p>\n

It was an honour to work as Lahore High Court and Supreme Court judge, Naqvi said and added he could not continue discharging his duties.<\/p>\n

\u201cI, therefore. effective today resign as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan,\u201d the letter added.<\/p>\n
