The President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, on Thursday has accepted the resignation of Judge of Supreme Court, Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi. The confirmation about the above mentioned has been shared by the President office.<\/p>\n

It is to be noted that, the development came a day after the judge, sent his resignation because of the \u201ccircumstances which are a matter of public knowledge and to some extent public record.\u201d<\/p>\n

As per the statement released by the President House, \u201cDr Alvi<\/a> accepted the resignation of Justice Naqvi on the advise of the prime minister under Article 179 (retiring age) of the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the resignation letter sent to President Alvi, Justice Naqvi stated that, \u201cin the circumstances which are a matter of public knowledge and to some extent the public record, it is no longer possible for me to continue serving as the judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later on, his personal secretary had issued a corrigendum, stating that the date may be corrected and recognized as January 10, 2024, and the quarters concerned may be informed accordingly.<\/p>\n

According to the information, Justice Naqvi, while sharing the statement, about his resignation, said that, \u201cI feel relieved, it is hard reality that I was totally denied the right of audience.\u201d He pointed out that he had moved 24 applications, but not a single one had been decided.<\/p>\n

He further claimed that, \u201cThe Chairman and the other judges were showing reluctance towards providing me the chance of hearing except one. Rest had joined consolidated design. There was no fun to expect any administration of justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Naqvi was facing a Supreme Judicial Council inquiry over the allegations of misconduct, a show-cause notice for which was issued in October during the last year. On Tuesday, the apex court had rejected his request to stay the proceedings.<\/p>\n
