{"id":46081,"date":"2024-01-10T08:30:07","date_gmt":"2024-01-10T08:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/sc-upholds-ex-military-dictator-musharrafs-death-sentence-in-treason-case\/"},"modified":"2024-01-10T08:30:07","modified_gmt":"2024-01-10T08:30:07","slug":"sc-upholds-ex-military-dictator-musharrafs-death-sentence-in-treason-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/sc-upholds-ex-military-dictator-musharrafs-death-sentence-in-treason-case\/","title":{"rendered":"SC upholds ex-military dictator Musharraf\u2019s death sentence in treason case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1522774\">death sentence<\/a> of late former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, awarded to him by the Special Court in the high treason case.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the short order, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa said, \u201cThe impugned passed on January 13, 2020 by the Lahore High Court (LHC) [\u2026] is not sustainable and accordingly set aside.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The order comes as a four-judge SC bench took up a set of appeals against the Jan 13, 2020 Lahore High Court order declaring unconstitutional the death sentence awarded to Musharraf on Dec 17, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Athar Minallah are other members of the bench.
