Television actor Agha Ali recently appeared on Tabish Hashmi\u2019s chat show, Hasna Mana Hai<\/em><\/a>, and casually discussed his time in the showbiz, his experiences with \u201cactresses\u2019 boyfriends\u201d, his decision to not take up films because of terrible scripts and underwhelming productions, as well as his \u201creputation\u201d in the industry.<\/p>\n

While discussing the actor\u2019s \u201cgood looks\u201d, the host recalled a time when actresses would allegedly refuse to work with him because their fianc\u00e9s or husbands would have a problem. \u201cWhy was your reputation so bad?\u201d quipped Hashmi. \u201cNo, no. Seriously. I heard you and the producers would also have a laugh about it,\u201d remarked the host.<\/p>\n

\u201cExactly around 2016-17, whenever I\u2019d sign a drama, a few days before the shoot, I\u2019d get a call from the producer asking me whether I have some issue with the heroine. I\u2019d say I\u2019ve never met her. Then they\u2019d ask me whether I have a scuffle with their fianc\u00e9. I wouldn\u2019t even know the fianc\u00e9 so why would I have a scuffle? Then they\u2019d tell me that he isn\u2019t letting this actress work because of me. I\u2019d ask why? \u2018Because he\u2019s scared,\u2019 they\u2019d say,\u201d shared Agha, laughing.<\/p>\n

The actor went on to allege that he had actually spoken to two of his co-stars\u2019 fianc\u00e9s to ask them what the problem was. \u201cThere was once this heroine, a very well-known actor, she had started dating this guy who was also an actor. And the producer of that drama was Humayun [Saeed] bhai.<\/em> So, he asked me one day what was it that I did that made this guy so insecure?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd Humayun bhai<\/em> was asking this\u2026\u201d quipped Hashmi, leaving Agha in fits. \u201cBut we had a good laugh about this,\u201d continued the actor. \u201cAnd I told him that if his production house was suffering because of me then I will step back, maybe sign a different drama.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked, on a serious note, why this kept happening, Agha held, \u201cSee, I think, the characters you play, they form this\u2026 perception of you. And when I had newly started working, I didn\u2019t attend any parties, I wouldn\u2019t socialize and I would play these characters so people thought, that\u2019s who I am. That\u2019s the only image they had of me. That role I\u2019d play onscreen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor then capped off, \u201cMaybe they saw something special in me (speaking in Ali Zafar’s voice)… but I think that no one should feel insecure because of anyone!\u201d<\/p>\n
