Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi penned a heartfelt tribute to David Warner following the Australian opener’s retirement from Test cricket on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Warner bid adieu to the game after Australia’s triumphant 3-0 whitewash against Pakistan at the SCG, where he contributed a solid 57 runs in his final Test innings.<\/p>\n

Expressing gratitude and admiration for Warner’s contributions to cricket, Afridi took on social media platform and acknowledged Warner as an exceptional ambassador for the sport. In his message, Afridi praised Warner’s vibrant energy both on and off the field and wished him the very best for his future endeavors.<\/p>\n

“The game of cricket found a true ambassador in shape of @davidwarner31. You have always brought great energy both on and off the field and it was a great challenge playing against you. Go well in the future!” Afridi wrote on X.<\/p>\n

During the post-match ceremony, Pakistan captain Shan Masood also presented a signed shirt from Babar Azam, endorsed by all team members, as a token of appreciation to Warner for his outstanding career.<\/p>\n

Warner’s retirement marks the end of a remarkable journey that encompassed 112 Tests, amassing 8,786 runs at an average of 44.59, inclusive of 26 centuries since his debut against New Zealand in 2011.<\/p>\n

In an emotional speech after the match, Warner extended heartfelt gratitude to his family, crediting his parents for their upbringing, acknowledging his brother Steve’s influence, and expressing deep appreciation for his wife, Candice, for her unwavering support and love.<\/p>\n
