An appellate tribunal in Multan on Saturday declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi ineligible to contest in the upcoming\u00a0general elections. <\/span><\/p>\n

The former foreign minister\u2019s petition against the rejection of his nomination papers by the local returning officer (RO) was rejected<\/a> by an election tribunal. <\/span><\/p>\n

Qureshi had filed an appeal earlier, challenging the RO\u2019s decision. <\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, the PTI vice chairman\u2019s children, Zain Qureshi and Mehrbano Qureshi, were deemed eligible to contest from NA-150 and NA-151, respectively. Zain\u2019s nomination papers for PP-218 were also approved. <\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking to the media, Qureshi\u2019s lawyer announced that they would appeal against the rejection and approach the\u00a0divisional bench. <\/span><\/p>\n

It should be noted that Qureshi and his son\u2019s nomination papers from Karachi were approved<\/a> by the local RO. In addition, his papers from Umerkot, Sindh NA-214 were accepted as well. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
