Indian superstar Deepika Padukone says she’s looking forward to having kids with her husband of five years, Ranveer Singh, in a recent interview with Vogue Singapore<\/em>. The couple, who tied the knot in 2018, after five years of dating, has often made headlines with their personal life being the focal point.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One question the duo, who are touted as two of India’s biggest actors, has been often asked if when are they planning to embrace parenthood. Finally addressing the query head-on, the Jawan actor recently revealed that she looks forward to starting her own family with her Bajirao Mastani co-star.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cRanveer and I love children. We look forward to the day when we will start our own family,\u201d Deepika shared with the outlet. Speaking about her family, she added, \u201cWhen I meet the people I have grown up with\u2014my aunts, uncles, family friends\u2014they always mention how I haven\u2019t changed one bit. That says a lot about our upbringing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pathaan superstar added, \u201cIn this industry, it\u2019s easy to get carried away by fame and money. But no one treats me like a celebrity at home. I am a daughter and a sister first. I don\u2019t want that to change. My family keeps me grounded and Ranveer and I hope to inculcate the same values in our children.”<\/p>\n

It was back in 2019 when Deepika made it clear that while she and Ranveer want children, they weren\u2019t thinking about it actively. She had also expressed her annoyance with the societal expectations from couples. \u201cI think it\u2019s sad that society kind of puts itself and people in this rut that okay you are dating for so long toh shaadi kab hogi, shaadi ke baad bacche and then grandchildren. It\u2019s almost like it\u2019s the said expectation. I\u2019m not surprised (by the rumours), we\u2019re not surprised by it at all,\u201d Deepika shared while speaking with HT Cafe.<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cDo we intent on having children? Of course we do, we both love kids. But are we intent on having children anytime soon? Absolutely not! We\u2019re too selfishly at this point focused on our careers and I don\u2019t think it would be fair to have kids at this point. We\u2019re not even thinking about kids.\u201d<\/p>\n
