RAWALPINDI \u2013 Pakistan Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief and Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed\u2019s nomination papers for NA-56 and NA-57 have been accepted in Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n

The Appellate Tribunal, led by Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf, conducted the hearing, where Sardar Abdul Razzaq appeared on behalf of Sheikh Rasheed.<\/p>\n

Justice Rauf accepted the nomination papers of Sheikh Rasheed for the said constituencies by overturning the decision of the returning officer.<\/p>\n

In response to the rejection of his papers by the Returning Officer (RO), Sheikh Rasheed had filed an appeal in the Appellate Tribunal against the decision taken by the RO on his candidacy for NA-56 and NA-57.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the numerous appeals were filed against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers.<\/p>\n

According to the latest, a total of 1,158 appeals were filed in Punjab by the stipulated deadline of January 3 regarding the acceptance or rejection of nomination forms from aspiring candidates willing to participate in the upcoming general elections.<\/p>\n

It is noteworthy that Lahore High Court and other benches are bound to decide on these appeals by January 10, against the backdrop of hundreds of nomination forms being either accepted or rejected. The tribunals will scrutinize these appeals and issue verdicts by January 10.<\/p>\n

It has been disclosed that more than 2,600 nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates have been rejected. The revelation includes the rejection of nomination papers of over 600 central leaders of PTI, while more than 2,000 nomination papers of supporting and second-tier leadership have also been rejected.<\/p>\n

The PTI lawyers compiled additional documentation related to Level Playing Field (LPF) and presented it to the Supreme Court. The documents highlighted that nomination papers of over 2,000 PTI top leaders were rejected, and 668 leaders of PTI in the second phase had their nomination papers rejected.<\/p>\n

Around 56 incidents of tearing PTI leaders\u2019 nomination papers were reported, leading to the arrests of those involved in recommending and verifying the papers.<\/p>\n
