ISLAMABAD \u2013 The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday expressed concerns over preferential hiring of government employees\u2019 children based on priority criteria.<\/p>\n

A SC three-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa took up the case related to hiring in the General Post Office in Islamabad.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, the top court raised questions about the recruitment of government employees\u2019 children on a priority basis. The court, while questioning this practice, issued notices to the Attorney General.<\/p>\n

The CJP, addressing the government representative, remarked, \u201cBe brave and write to the Prime Minister that this policy is wrong. Does the Prime Minister have the authority to change the policy himself? Why should only the children of government employees be hired on a priority basis? Aren\u2019t other children Pakistani? Why are such discriminatory policies formulated? Such policies undermine the constitution,\u201d.<\/p>\n

The CJP further commented, \u201cIf this policy was made during the previous government. Then say that the previous government was above the constitution. These policies should be discarded. The constitution is above everything,\u201d.<\/p>\n

On it, an additional attorney general informed the court that \u201cthis policy was made during the previous government,\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court, in response, remarked, \u201cWe ask the Attorney General for guidance,\u201d\u00a0 and issued notices to the attorney general, directing him to appear before the court for further proceedings.<\/p>\n
