The caretaker government is committed to countering hoarding, smuggling and terrorism besides reinforcing price control, said PM Anwaarul Haq on Friday.<\/p>\n

Addressing the media in Islamabad, the interim prime minister said that decisions regarding power pilferage<\/a><\/em>, hoarding and smuggling will be implemented vigorously.<\/p>\n

Those involved in illegal practices will be taken to the court of law and due process will be followed, he added.<\/p>\n

He announced the revival of price control committees, which will be led by the planning, development and special initiatives ministry in coordination with provincial authorities.<\/p>\n

The interim premier stressed that implementation of this system will remain in place till an elected government assumes office.<\/p>\n

With regards to the suspected involvement of Afghan refugees<\/a><\/em> in smuggling and hoarding, Kakar said a policy has been prepared regarding the same and it will soon be visible.<\/p>\n

“Aliens will be deported as they have no right to reside in Pakistan,” state media reported him as saying. The premier further said that detailed discussions have been held regarding the Pak-Afghan transit trade and assured that there would be “zero tolerance” on smuggled goods.<\/p>\n

Those residing in border areas will be provided with positive economic opportunities to earn their livelihoods in a dignified manner, said Kakar.<\/p>\n

The interim PM also apprised that the crackdown against the “illegal industry of currency”<\/a><\/em> will be “consistent and the law will take its course”.<\/p>\n

The caretaker government is committed to breaking the “nexus between smugglers and terrorists outfits,” stressed Kakar, adding that countering terrorism and extremism<\/a><\/em> were among the foremost priorities.<\/p>\n

Both the civilian and military authorities “are working in a synchronized manner to deal with this menace,” according to the PM.<\/p>\n

When asked about freedom of expression and the media’s right to report, Kakar rubbished claims that the media’s voice is being stifled. The caretaker government firmly believes in freedom of expression<\/a><\/em>, he said.<\/p>\n
