LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday directed the police to recover the allegedly abducted brother of former PTI leader Usman Dar within 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Usman Dar filed a habeas corpus petition against the alleged illegal detention of his brother, Umar Dar, by law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n

At the outset of the hearing, the petitioner\u2019s counsel urged the court to immediately summon the CCPO Lahore. He stated that the petitioner\u2019s broth\u00ad\u00ader had gone to a private hotel for dinner the previous night. The counsel alleged that more than 40 individuals in police uniform abducted the petitioner\u2019s brother from the hotel.<\/p>\n

He further mentioned that the mother of the abducted man was contesting elections against Khwaja Muhammad Asif of PML-N from Sialkot, claiming that the petitioner\u2019s family was being targeted on political grounds.<\/p>\n

Justice Ali Baqar Najafi asked the petitioner\u2019s cou\u00adnsel if the CCTV footage of the alleged abduction incident was recorded.<\/p>\n

The lawyer responded that the hotel managem\u00ade\u00ad\u00adnt was not providing them with the footage. The jud\u00adge ordered the CCPO Lahore to recover Umar Dar with\u00ad\u00adin a day or appear in pers\u00ad\u00ado\u00ad\u00ad\u00ad\u00ad\u00ad\u00adn if recovery was not made.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the PTI and the Dar family accused<\/a> PML-N\u2019s Khawaja Asif of \u201cengineering\u201d the incident to weaken the Dar family\u2019s position in the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n

In a video posted on PTI\u2019s X handle, Umar Dar\u2019s mother appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakis\u00adtan to intervene and take notice of the situation.<\/p>\n
