Gary Oldman shared his verdict on his portrayal of protagonist Sirius Black in the iconic \u2018Harry Potter<\/em>\u2018 films.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Gary Oldman played protagonist Harry Potter\u2019s (Daniel Radcliffe) godfather Sirius Black in the live adaptation of renowned author J.K. Rowling\u2019s novels.<\/span><\/p>\n

His character made his debut in \u2018Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban<\/em>\u2018. He reprised his role in \u2018Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire<\/em>\u2018, \u2018Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix<\/em>\u2018, and \u2018Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows \u2013 Part 2<\/em>.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

Gary Oldman talked about his work in the \u2018Harry Potter<\/em>\u2018 film franchise in \u2018Happy Sad Confused\u2019 podcast. The veteran star believes his work was mediocre.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said it could have been different if he had read the Harry Potter books before working on its films.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think my work is mediocre in it,\u201d The veteran actor said. \u201cNo, I do. Maybe if I had read the books like Alan (Rickman, who played Severus Snape), if I had got ahead of the curve, if I had known what\u2019s coming, I honestly think I would have played it differently.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Previously, the actor revealed on The Drew Barrymore Show that playing Sirius Black in \u2018Harry Potter<\/em>\u2018 franchise and Commissioner Lawrence Gordon in director Christopher Nolan\u2019s \u2018Batman<\/em>\u2018 franchise saved him as he was having problems in his personal life.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said, \u201cAt 42 years old, I woke up, you know, sort of divorced and I had custody of these boys. That, in itself, was \u2026 that was hard because there was a shift in the industry where a lot of productions were\u2026 in Hungary, Budapest, Prague, Australia, you know, all of these places. So, I turned down a lot of work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The actor added, \u201cThank God for \u2018Harry Potter<\/em>\u2018. I tell you, the two \u2014 \u2018Batman<\/em>\u2018 and \u2018Harry Potter<\/em>\u2018 \u2014 really, they saved me, because it meant that I could do the least amount of work for the most amount of money and then be home with the kids.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
