{"id":41360,"date":"2023-12-29T14:45:21","date_gmt":"2023-12-29T14:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/fawad-chaudhry-gets-relief-from-lhc\/"},"modified":"2023-12-29T14:45:21","modified_gmt":"2023-12-29T14:45:21","slug":"fawad-chaudhry-gets-relief-from-lhc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/fawad-chaudhry-gets-relief-from-lhc\/","title":{"rendered":"Fawad Chaudhry gets relief from LHC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_86\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p><strong>LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday suspended an order by Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), declaring former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry \u2018proclaimed offender\u2019, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Justice Ali Baqar Najafi-led two-member bench heard the petition filed by former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IOUOZeRJQx0\">ATC orders<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, Fawad Chaudhry\u2019s counsel argued that returning officer (RO) had rejected his client\u2019s nomination papers on objection that the former minister had been declared \u2018proclaimed offender\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>He maintained that his client was imprisoned in Adiala Jail, but still the Anti-Terrorism Court declared him a \u201cPO\u201d. \u201cThe court could have summoned Fawad by issuing a notice, but this was not done,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ATC orders are contrary to the facts,\u201d he said, urging the LHC to annul the declaration.<\/p>\n<p>After hearing the arguments, the LHC suspended the ATC orders and issued notices to parties while adjourning the hearing till January 11.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Dec 16, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested <a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/fawad-chaudhry-arrested-from-adiala-jail-in-corruption-case\/\">Fawad Chaudhry in a corruption case<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fawad Chaudhry was arrested from Adiala Jail after NAB Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed Butt signed the former\u2019s arrest warrant.<\/p>\n<p>This year in June, the former minister was among the PTI leaders who attended the launching ceremony of the Istihkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), which is headed by former PTI leader Jahangir Tareen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script type=\"rocketlazyloadscript\">\n  window.fbAsyncInit = function() {\n    FB.init({\n      appId      : '161345524510473',\n      cookie     : true,\n      xfbml      : true,\n      version    : 'v3.0'\n    });\n    FB.AppEvents.logPageView();   \n  };\n  (function(d, s, id){\n     var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];\n     if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;}\n     js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;\n     js.src = \"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js\";\n     fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);\n   }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));\n<\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday suspended an order by Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), declaring former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry \u2018proclaimed offender\u2019, ARY News reported.
