ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court in Islamabad decided to indict the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana reference case on January 4, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the Toshakahna reference case at Adaiala jail. During the hearing, copies of the reference and relevant information were provided to the accused.<\/p>\n

Imran Khan and his wife have been named in the list of accused for possessing gifts received from international dignitaries, which they were obligated to deposit in the Toshakhana.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were summoned in connection with NAB Toshakhana reference on December 23.<\/p>\n

The Accountability Court accepted the Toshakhana reference filed by NAB against the former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi for hearing.<\/p>\n

The reference stated that the accused had obtained 108 items from the Toshakhana and kept 58 with them.<\/p>\n

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a reference with the Accountability Court against PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi pertaining to Toshakhana case.<\/p>\n

As per details, the Registrar Office of the accountability court would take further action after scrutiny of the case. The NAB Rawalpindi has named two accused in the graft reference.<\/p>\n

Toshakhana reference<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The reference, which alleges that Imran failed to share details of the gifts he retained from the Toshaskhana (during his time as the prime minister) was filed by lawmakers from the ruling coalition last year.<\/p>\n

The Toshakhana issue became a major sticking point in national politics after the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified the PTI chief for making \u201cfalse statements and incorrect declaration\u201d last month.<\/p>\n

The judgement added that the\u00a0former premier<\/a>\u00a0was found to be indulged in corrupt practices under sections 167 and 173 of the constitution. \u201cA criminal proceeding will be initiated against him over filing a false statement.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHis disqualification under Article 63, 1(P) has been for his current parliament membership\u201d, the ECP said in its 36-page detailed judgment of the reference.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe amount in his bank account was around half of the value of the state gifts. Imran Khan was bound to declare the cash and bank details in his returns but he didn\u2019t declare it,\u201d ECP decision read.<\/p>\n

\u201cImran Khan being declared disqualified and unseated from his National Assembly seat,\u201d the ECP said, adding: \u201cHe has been disqualified under Article 63, 1(P), over submitting a false statement and declaration\u201d.<\/p>\n

Following this, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had launched probe against former prime minister Imran Khan in Toshakhana case on March 9.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
