{"id":40872,"date":"2023-12-28T10:26:54","date_gmt":"2023-12-28T10:26:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/sharmila-tagore-reveals-battle-with-cancer\/"},"modified":"2023-12-28T10:26:54","modified_gmt":"2023-12-28T10:26:54","slug":"sharmila-tagore-reveals-battle-with-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/sharmila-tagore-reveals-battle-with-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Sharmila Tagore reveals battle with cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_86\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p><strong>The iconic Indian cinema star, Sharmila Tagore revealed that she battled cancer a few years ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Watch ARY News live on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/live.arynews.tv\/hq\/\">live.arynews.tv<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the recently-dropped new episode of Karan Johar\u2019s\u00a0<em>\u2018Koffee With Karan\u2019<\/em> season 8, featuring Bollywood nawab Saif Ali Khan and his mother, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, the latter shocked the audience with her cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>It happened with a revelation from the host, filmmaker Karan Johar, who spilt that the veteran was his first choice for the role of Jamini Chatterjee, grandmother of Alia Bhatt\u2019s Rani, in <em>\u2018Rocky Aur Rani kii Prem Kahaani\u2019<\/em>,\u00a0which was eventually essayed by Shabana Azmi in the title.<\/p>\n<p>Johar said, \u201cI had offered Sharmila ji the part played by Shabana [Azmi] ji in <em>Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani<\/em>. She was my very first choice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDue to health reasons at that time, she couldn\u2019t say yes. but it is a regret I have,\u201d he revealed, to which, the<em> \u2018Gulmohar\u2019<\/em> actor added, \u201cThis is at the height of Covid. They hadn\u2019t really grappled with Covid at that time. They didn\u2019t know about the vaccine, we were not vaccinated. You know, [it was] after my cancer.
