A television, movie and voice actor from Puerto Rico, Kamar de los Reyes, best known for playing a gang member-turned-cop in the soap \u2018One Life to Live\u2019<\/em> and a villain in the video game \u2018Call of Duty: Black Ops II\u2019<\/em>, has died in Los Angeles at 56, the family announced.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kamar De Los Reyes died Sunday following a brief battle with cancer, according to a statement from Lisa Goldberg, a publicist for de los Reyes\u2019 wife, Sherri Saum.<\/p>\n

The family statement said that at the time of his death, de los Reyes was filming \u2018All American\u2019<\/em> \u2013 and had recently shot roles in Marvel\u2019s upcoming \u2018Daredevil\u2019<\/em> series and Hulu\u2019s yet-to-be-released \u2018Washington Black\u2019<\/em>, starring Sterling K. Brown.<\/p>\n

De los Reyes was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Las Vegas. According to a biography provided by the family, he caught the bug for acting when he arrived in Los Angeles in the late \u201980s. Early roles include playing Pedro Quinn in the 1994 off-Broadway play, \u2018Blade to the Heat\u2019<\/em>, and Ferdinand in director George C. Wolfe\u2019s production of \u2018The Tempest\u2019<\/em> for Shakespeare in the Park.<\/p>\n

In \u2018One Life to Live\u2019<\/em>, de los Reyes starred as Antonio Vega, a former gang member who became a lawyer and then a cop, alongside Saum. In the popular video game \u2018Call of Duty: Black Ops II\u2019<\/em>, he played the villain Raul Menendez. He also had roles in Fox\u2019s \u2018Sleepy Hollow\u2019<\/em>, ABC\u2019s \u2018The Rookie\u2019<\/em> and CW\u2019s \u2018All American\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n

On the big screen, de los Reyes appeared in Oliver Stone\u2019s \u2018Nixon\u2019<\/em>, playing Watergate burglar Eugenio Martinez, as a secret service agent in \u2018Salt\u2019<\/em>, with Angelina Jolie, and in \u2018The Cell\u2019<\/em> with Jennifer Lopez.<\/p>\n

\u201cDe Los Reyes lived in Los Angeles, however, his heart never left Puerto Rico,\u201d the family statement said, adding that the actor had been active in the recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria in 2017.<\/p>\n

The actor is survived by his wife Saum and three sons, Caylen, 26, and twins Michael and John, age 9.<\/p>\n
