Actor Charlie Sheen was attacked in his luxury Malibu home, police said Friday, with the suspect arrested and charged with assault and burglary.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Officers were called to the \u2018Two and a Half Men\u2019<\/em> star\u2019s home for a \u2018battery\/disturbance\u2019, Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon contacting the parties involved, deputies identified Charlie Sheen as a victim of assault,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

Suspect Electra Schrock was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, force likely to create great bodily injury and residential burglary, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n

Entertainment outlet TMZ said Schrock, 47, is one of Sheen\u2019s neighbours, who had \u2018forced her way into his home and attacked him when he opened the door\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re told she ripped Charlie\u2019s shirt and attempted to strangle him,\u201d the title reported, adding that Sheen was seen by paramedics but not taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n

TMZ said this was not the first confrontation between the neighbours, reporting that previous incidents had included a sticky liquid being squirted on Sheen\u2019s car.<\/p>\n

Charlie Sheen, 58, is the son of actor Martin Sheen and notorious for being a Hollywood bad boy with episodes of substance abuse, destructive violence and relationships with porn actresses.<\/p>\n

He has appeared in films including \u201cPlatoon,\u201d \u201cWall Street\u201d (alongside his father) and \u201cYoung Guns.\u201d<\/p>\n

His television career has included \u2018Spin City\u2019<\/em> and \u2018Two and a Half Men\u2019<\/em>, a series loosely based on his hard-partying reputation.<\/p>\n
