The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD<\/a>) on Saturday has killed a terrorist, who is allegedly linked to over 50 murders and an attack on the intelligence agency office. The claim about the above mentioned has been shared by the Punjab CTD.<\/p>\n

As per the statement made by the CTD, the intelligence based operation has taken place in the Chiniot.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson mentioned that during the CTD action, the alleged terrorist and his accomplice resisted, leading to an exchange of fire between the personnel of the CTD and the terrorists. Both were killed in the exchange of fire.<\/p>\n

According to the spokesperson, \u201cThe suspects, with a bounty of Rs2.5 million on his head, had been in hiding since 2011, evading security agencies.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the operation, law enforcement officials have recovered weapons and explosives from the hideout where he was looted.<\/p>\n

The statement by the CTD added that the terrorist operated under several aliases within his network and had been responsible for the targeted killing of many people as well as the attack on the office of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in Faisalabad.<\/p>\n

The CTD in the statement said that the elimination<\/a> of the figure was expected to result in a noticeable decrease in the terrorist activities.<\/p>\n

It is to be added that, the CTD has been undertaking operations across the province in reply to the terror threats, making detentions and neutralizing criminal elements through IBOs in the recent months.<\/p>\n

The CTD, earlier this month, has made arrest of around nine suspects that are linked directly with the terror organisations. The arrests were made during the various intelligence based operations (IBO) across the province.<\/p>\n

As per the official statement by the CTD, officials had conducted 70 IBOs in various parts of the province. During the operations, the CTD had interrogated 69 suspects, resulting in the arrest of nine.<\/p>\n

The statement had disclosed that two of the arrested suspects were associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and were detained in Lahore.<\/p>\n
