To celebrate, CBS is airing a special called \u201cDick Van Dyke: 98 Years Of Magic\u201d on December 21 at 9 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his long career, Dick has charmed audiences with his humor and smile. Beyond his fans, his wife Arlene Silver has been by his side for almost 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dick and Arlene\u2019s love story began in 2006 at the SAG Awards ceremony. Arlene, a makeup artist at the time, met Dick, who was attending as a guest. Although introduced, Arlene didn\u2019t initially realize she was talking to the famous Dick Van Dyke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew him, I just didn\u2019t know how I knew him,\u201d she said in 2012. \u201cI like that I knew him as a man before I knew him as a performer.\u201dEven though Arlene wasn\u2019t familiar with Dick\u2019s work, and they had a big age difference of 46 years, they got along well and started working together.<\/p>\n<p>At first, the couple, who are now married, had a professional relationship. Dick was in a long-term relationship with Michelle Triola for over three decades. He was previously married to Margerie Willett for almost four decades until their divorce in 1984. However, when Michelle passed away from cancer in 2009, Arlene became a supportive figure for Dick as he mourned the loss of his partner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArlene would come by after work and bring me food,\u201d he said. \u201cShe was such a support, I fell in love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After being together for two years, Arlene moved in with Dick at his Malibu home in 2011. They had a small wedding on February 29, 2012. The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that the bride chose to be unique by wearing a fuchsia wedding gown instead of following the traditional style.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Palmer, told about the marriage, he emphasized that Arlene\u2019s presence was a significant factor in Dick\u2019s happiness. \u201cIt\u2019s a really nice relationship, most people like [Arlene] a lot,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cDespite their obvious age difference, Dick has never been happier. She brings a lot of light into his life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For 11 years of marriage, Dick and Arlene have enjoyed being in the public eye, often attending Hollywood events together. Arlene supported Dick at the 2021 Kennedy Center Honors, and she was there for him during his appearance in the movie Mary Poppins Returns in 2018. They both love singing, as seen when Dick sang Frank Sinatra\u2019s \u201cWhen You\u2019re Smiling\u201d on The Masked Singer season 9, a song suggested by Arlene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey wanted me to do something current and I know nothing from rock,\u201d Van Dyke<\/p>\n<p>After nearly twenty years together, what\u2019s the secret to Dick and Arlene\u2019s relationship? According to the actor, it\u2019s having a partner who easily adjusts to everything in his life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe share an attitude,\u201d he said in March 2022. \u201cShe can go with the flow. She loves to sing and dance, which we do almost every day.
