British-Pakistani actor Alyy Khan defended his latest Bollywood film \u2018The Archies\u2019<\/em>, amidst all the criticism around the star kids debut title.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After much anticipation, Zoya Akhtar\u2019s \u2018The Archies\u2019<\/em>, finally premiered on the streaming giant Netflix earlier this month, opening to mixed reviews from critics. While audiences appreciated the film for Zoya Akhtar\u2019s aesthetics and direction, it was particularly panned for being the \u2018nepo kids fest\u2019, who for their life couldn\u2019t act.<\/p>\n

Notably,\u00a0the teenage musical comedy starred debutantes Suhana Khan (daughter of Shahrukh Khan), Khushi Kapoor (daughter of late actor Sridevi) and Agastya Nanda (grandson of Amitabh Bachchan) as Veronica Lodge, Betty Cooper and Archie Andrews respectively, along with Mihir Ahuja, Yuvraj Menda, Aditi \u2018Dot\u2019 Saigal and Vedang Raina.<\/p>\n

However, amidst all the criticism, actor Alyy Khan, who plays the pivotal role of Hiram Lodge (Veronica\u2019s father) in the title, defended \u2018The Archies\u2019<\/em>, dubbing it as anything but a \u2018conventional Bollywood film\u2019. \u201cI think it is a very good film. I think it\u2019s extremely nuanced. It\u2019s emotional without being Hindi filmy or melodramatic\u2026It\u2019s not your conventional Hindi film, Student of The Year,<\/em> Karan Johar type. It\u2019s a very elegant film; subtle and mature.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Mere Humsafar\u2019<\/em> actor even went ahead to shower praises on the celebrity kids, maintaining that there was no such \u2018star kid\u2019 factor among the ensemble cast members and everyone worked together like a family. \u201cThey worked really hard, supremely trained, totally dedicated, thoroughly professional,\u201d he said of the debutante actors.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Khan, who has had the chance to work alongside Suhana\u2019s father, Shahrukh Khan as well in \u2018Don 2\u2019<\/em>, defended her against all the hate and trolling and said, \u201cIt\u2019s not her fault that she\u2019s Shahrukh\u2019s kid. She shouldn\u2019t be embarrassed about it. But did Suhana throw a tantrum? Did she throw a strop? Did she ever make you feel like she was Shahrukh Khan\u2019s kid? Never.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was the loveliest, the friendliest, the most hardworking\u2026There was no attitude from everyone,\u201d he reiterated.<\/p>\n
