{"id":37312,"date":"2023-12-19T12:24:11","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T12:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/tomtom-creates-ai-based-conversational-assistant-for-vehicles-the-express-tribune\/"},"modified":"2023-12-19T12:24:11","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T12:24:11","slug":"tomtom-creates-ai-based-conversational-assistant-for-vehicles-the-express-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/tomtom-creates-ai-based-conversational-assistant-for-vehicles-the-express-tribune\/","title":{"rendered":"TomTom creates AI-based conversational assistant for vehicles  | The Express Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"\">\n<p>Digital mapping specialist TomTom said on Tuesday it has partnered with tech giant Microsoft to create an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered conversational assistant for vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The assistant will allow users to &#8220;converse naturally with their vehicles&#8221; and enable voice interaction with infotainment, location search, and vehicle command systems, the company said.<\/p>\n<p>TomTom, which competes with Google Maps and the world&#8217;s biggest mapping platform HERE, used various Microsoft services like its Azure OpenAI Service to create the voice assistant.<\/p>\n<p>The Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service allows enterprises to leverage ChatGPT maker OpenAI&#8217;s large language models (LLM).<\/p>\n<p>The voice assistant can be integrated into other automotive infotainment systems and is also built into TomTom&#8217;s Digital Cockpit, an open, modular in-vehicle infotainment platform, the Dutch map maker said.<\/p>\n<p>Finance chief Taco Titulaer <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/map-maker-tomtoms-q3-loss-narrows-boosted-by-car-branch-growth-2023-10-13\/\">told<\/a> Reuters in October that TomTom saw new opportunities in generative AI and was &#8220;investing time and money and people&#8221; into the technology.<\/p>\n<p>TomTom had launched an LLM plug-in for ChatGPT in July to allow the chatbot&#8217;s users to plan trips and explore new places using its maps.<\/p>\n<p>The company began working with Microsoft in 2016, when it first started powering Azure Maps location services.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&#038;version=v5.0&#038;appId=419051588770002&#038;autoLogAppEvents=1\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Digital mapping specialist TomTom said on Tuesday it has partnered with tech giant Microsoft to create an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered conversational assistant for vehicles.
