LAHORE \u2013 Fog continued to blanket plains of the country including Lahore on Monday, bringing life to a standstill by disrupting road, rail, air traffic.<\/p>\n

Experts have predicted the prevailing harsh weather conditions to persist during the next two days.<\/p>\n

Moderate to dense fog forced closure of portions of Motorways from late night to early morning, diverting traffic to alternative routes including National Highway.<\/p>\n

Low visibility also affected normal vehicular movement on almost the entire National Highway.<\/p>\n

Fog also led to cancellation of several international and domestic flights.<\/p>\n

It also disturbed schedule of passenger trains.<\/p>\n

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for Lahore and most parts of Pakistan on Monday night and the next two days.<\/p>\n

Extremely cold weather is expected in northern parts.<\/p>\n

Fog\/smog is likely to occur in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.<\/p>\n

Dense fog\/smog is likely in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Lahore, Gujranwala, Narowal, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and surroundings during morning and night hours.<\/p>\n

Moderate to dense smog\/fog may cause closure of portions of Motorways (Peshawar-Swabi, Swabi-Islamabad, Pindi Bhattian-Lahore, Kallar Kahar-Pindi Bhattian, Lahore-Abdul Hakim, Sialkot-Lahore, Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Faisalabad-Multan and Multan-Sukkur) from late night to early morning.<\/p>\n

Less visibility will also disrupt vehicular movement on the National Highway.<\/p>\n

In Lahore, minimum temperature will likely remain between 06-08 C on Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the mercury dropped 06 C below freezing.<\/p>\n

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 08 C.<\/p>\n

Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 66 per cent.<\/p>\n
