ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Thursday approved a two-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in Toshakhana case, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Accountability Judge Mohammad Bashir issued the directives while conducting the hearing at Adiala Jail.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, the officials from the accountability watchdog requested 7-day physical remand of former prime minister which was turned down by AC judge.<\/p>\n

The court rejected the NAB request and approved 2-day physical remand of Imran Khan.<\/p>\n

A day ago, An accountability court in Islamabad dismissed the pre-arrest bail plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday reserved its verdict on the PTI founder\u2019s plea seeking suspension of his conviction in the Toshakhana case.<\/p>\n

The plea was taken up by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Jahangiri. The verdict was reserved by the Islamabad High Court after hearing arguments from both sides.<\/p>\n

On October 21, 2022, the electoral watchdog, in a consensus verdict, had disqualified the former prime minister under Article 63(1)(p) and ruled that the PTI founder was no more a member of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

The former prime minister was disqualified for making \u201cfalse statements and incorrect declaration\u201d.<\/p>\n

Khan, on October 28 last year, had moved the IHC against the decision and later sought withdrawal of the appeal on January 18, 2023.<\/p>\n

Toshakhana reference<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The reference, which alleges that Imran failed to share details of the gifts he retained from the Toshaskhana (during his time as the prime minister) was filed by lawmakers from the ruling coalition last year.<\/p>\n

The Toshakhana issue became a major sticking point in national politics after the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified the PTI chief for making \u201cfalse statements and incorrect declaration\u201d last month.<\/p>\n

The judgement added that the\u00a0former premier<\/a>\u00a0was found to be indulged in corrupt practices under sections 167 and 173 of the constitution. \u201cA criminal proceeding will be initiated against him over filing a false statement.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHis disqualification under Article 63, 1(P) has been for his current parliament membership\u201d, the ECP said in its 36-page detailed judgment of the reference.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe amount in his bank account was around half of the value of the state gifts. Imran Khan was bound to declare the cash and bank details in his returns but he didn\u2019t declare it,\u201d ECP decision read.<\/p>\n

\u201cImran Khan being declared disqualified and unseated from his National Assembly seat,\u201d the ECP said, adding: \u201cHe has been disqualified under Article 63, 1(P), over submitting a false statement and declaration\u201d.<\/p>\n

Following this, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had launched probe against former prime minister Imran Khan in Toshakhana case on March 9.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
