The resulting traffic congestion left many commuters frustrated and stranded for over hours.<\/p>\n<p>The affected shopkeepers complained that they have no other job to do after the closure of their shops. They have demanded the authorities to allow them to reopen their shops.<\/p>\n<p>Talking to journalists, trade leader Sharjeel Goplani gave 24-hour ultimatum to authorities to de-seal the mall and allow affectees to reopen their shops.<\/p>\n<p>He warned the political parties that they have to stand by traders if wanted votes in upcoming general elections. \u201cWe will announce the next course of action after the consultation today,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>At least 11 people died while five others sustained burn injuries after a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/four-killed-as-fire-engulfs-shopping-mall-on-karachis-rashid-minhas-road\/\">fire erupted inside the RJ Shopping Mall<\/a>\u00a0a day earlier because of a suspected short circuit, as per the officials.<\/p>\n<p>The fire began on the fourth floor and later engulfed other floors. The officials claimed that the deaths occurred because the building had no ventilation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preliminary report<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A preliminary report prepared by the Fire Brigade Department has stated that there was \u201cno kind of public safety system\u201d in place at the RJ shopping mall in Karachi\u2019s Gulistan-i-Jauhar area.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, emergency exit doors, exit signs, existing preventive mechanisms and emergency lighting or power backup were \u201cnot available\u201d in the ill-fated building.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/key-suspects-nabbed-in-rj-shopping-mall-fire-case\/\">\u00a0Key suspects nabbed in Karachi shopping mall fire case<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo kind of public safety system was available in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0gOZdmVnzA0\">\u00a0RJ Mall<\/a>, including fire safety\/fighting equipment and emergency exits,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>It added that the department did not receive timely information about the fire and the third and fourth floors were \u201cburning severely\u201d when the fire brigade reached the scene.
