The Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwar ul Haq Kakar<\/a>, has extended felicitations to the SAARC Member States and the people of South Asia on the thirty-ninth (39th<\/sup>) SAARC Charter Day.<\/p>\n

The information about the above mentioned has been shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. It is to be noted that, PM Kakar, in the message added that, \u201con the eve of 8th<\/sup> December 1985, marks the day with the vision and foresight adopted the SAARC Charter, and made a pledge to work together for the progress and prosperity of South Asia.\u201d<\/p>\n

In address, PM Kakar, said that, \u201cThis day reminds us of the responsibility placed on our shoulders by our people, to address the common challenge of poverty, illiteracy, disease and under development.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUndoubtedly, SAARC has the immense potential to provide a sound framework to transform the lives of over two billion people residing in the South Asian region. Pakistan<\/a>, as one of the founding member states of SAARC, has consistently shown its commitment to the Organization\u2019s objectives. It has actively participated in the SAARC processes and activities,\u201d says PM Kakar.<\/p>\n

He further continued adding that, Pakistan is a firm believer in the strength and potential of regional cooperation for national and regional development. It further believes that result-oriented regional cooperation can be achieved only by adhering to the cardinal principles of sovereign equality and mutual respect, as enshrined in the SAARC Charter.<\/p>\n

At the same time, PM Kakar, added that, \u201cI would like to take the opportunity to reiterate Pakistan\u2019s commitment to the SAARC process. I am confident that the current hindrances to the Organization\u2019s smooth functioning will be removed, thus enabling the SAARC member states to forge ahead on the path of mutually-beneficial regional cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with this, he commended the efforts being made by the SAARC Secretariat for the Organizations\u2019 smooth functioning. He also extend wishes to the people of South Asia, peace, progress and prosperity, adding that, \u201cLet us work together to realize the true potential of our region for the benefit of South Asia and the rest of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
