The British High Commissioner to Pakistan<\/a>, Jane Marriott, and Political Secretary Sam Fletcher on Thursday held meeting with the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the diplomats held discussion on major topics of mutual interests, including asking him to talk with the Afghan Taliban to remove a bar on women\u2019s education in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

It is to be noted that, the details about the above mentioned has been shared by the Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Pakistan (JUI-F<\/a>) via their official social media handle. They have not just shared the details, but they also uploaded the glimpses of the meeting between British diplomats and JUI-F chief.<\/p>\n

However, Maulana Fazl, told High Commissioner, Jane Marriott, that the Western model of education was \u201cnot possible in Afghanistan because of its cultural and traditional norms. He suggested the West should give the interim Taliban government some time and space to deal with a plethora of issues, including women\u2019s education.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, JUI-F spokesman Aslam Ghauri, said that, the UK has asked for the cooperation of Maulana for the women\u2019s education in Afghanistan. The spokesman has termed this meeting as the usual one, as calling it as, \u201cDiplomats usually held meetings with politicians.\u201d<\/p>\n

Considering on why UK sought help of Maulana Fazl, the JUI-F spokesman said that, \u201cIt is not a secret anymore that the JUI-F is having a good ties and roots with the Taliban government.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that, \u201cThe cultural divide between the West and Islam should be recognized. They are supporters of women\u2019s education, but keeping the Islamic and Pashtun background of Afghanistan in front, the government there is creating an environment for women\u2019s education. The establishment of peace and order in Afghanistan is gradually improving, along with the establishment of peace and order, these problems will also be solved.\u201d<\/p>\n

While further bringing the attention onto the major issues, Maulana Fazlur, said that, \u201cThose who are more concerned about the education of women and children in Afghanistan should pay more attention towards the women and children of Gaza where human rights are being violated.\u201d<\/p>\n
