The PPP on Wednesday responded to JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman\u2019s recent reservations about holding elections during what he described as a worsening security situation by suggesting that opposition to polls stemmed from a \u201cfear of the public\u2019s verdict\u201d.<\/p>\n
PPP Secretary Information Faisal Kareem Kundi\u2019s statement follows the JUI-F chief\u2019s recent statement on the feasibility of holding elections amid a \u201cdeteriorating\u201d security situation.<\/p>\n
This isn\u2019t the first instance of Rehman expressing reservations about the prospect of polls. During a rally in Larkana<\/a> last week, he emphasised his party\u2019s readiness for elections but underscored the necessity of a \u201cpeaceful environment\u201d to ensure voters\u2019 safety while exercising their right to franchise.<\/p>\n In response to the JUI-F chief\u2019s remarks, Kundi expressed surprise, stating: \u201cMaulana has a government in the KP and we have no idea what feasible environment he is looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n Kundi was referring to the KP governor, Haji Ghulam Ali, being a relative of Maulana Fazl.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cPeople who fear the verdict from the public court do not want elections to take place.\u201d<\/p>\n
