The Istekham-i-Pakistan Party<\/a> (IPP) on Sunday has levelled serious allegations against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the Chief Election Commissioner of being biased and supporting just one party.<\/p>\n

It is to be noted that, Former governor of Sindh and senior IPP leader Imran Ismail has explained the role of the poll oversight body and its chief as \u201ccontroversial\u201d not only in Sindh, but across the nation and alleged it of supporting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).<\/p>\n

While addressing the media conference, he said that, \u201cThe Election<\/a> Commission of Pakistan lost its credibility and impartiality. It is clearly supporting just one party (PML-N). sometimes, the CEC sounds more like a political worker than a civil servant.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the conference, over 700 workers from different political parties has made an announcement about joining the IPP.<\/p>\n

While replying one of the question, Ismail said that the IPP would contest the general elections from Karachi with full force and called it too early for predicting whether it forge an election alliance with any party.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, he also shared the information about the engagement of the party in the province where it had held several meetings with all the leaders of different political parties.<\/p>\n

He stated that the IPP believed in true essence of politics and dialogue for which it had engaged in discussion with the different leaders as well as parties.<\/p>\n

He said that, \u201cWe are frequently meeting people. This is what politics is about. Being opponent or rival doesn\u2019t mean any enmity. This is the true essence of politics and this is what unfortunately we lost over the years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan and Grand Democratic Alliance have criticised the ECP and blamed it for working as the \u2018B-team\u2019 of the Pakistan Peoples Party.<\/p>\n

Both the parts had also demanded that the Sindh election commissioner be removed from the office.<\/p>\n
