The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday dismissed a plea pertaining to the marriage records of Bushra Bibi and PTI Chairperson Imran Khan\u00a0as non-maintainable.<\/p>\n

The plea had sought the court to issue directions to the concerned authorities to produce records related to Bushra’s\u00a0nikkah with Imran and the divorce record of her ex-husband Khawar Farid Maneka.<\/span><\/p>\n

Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, presiding over the hearing,\u00a0remarked that divorce and ‘iddat<\/em>‘\u00a0(a waiting period that a Muslim woman must observe on account of the death of her husband or dissolution of the marriage) are matters upon which objections can be raised by family members.<\/span><\/p>\n

Justice Najafi asked the petitioner, Muhammad Afaq,\u00a0how does he know regarding Bushra’s\u00a0iddat,\u00a0<\/em>with the petitioner saying that he came to know about the matter through the media.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The judge said that the petitioner may have not heard the news properly and inquired on what grounds could he challenge the marriage as he was not a family member.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The petitioner\u00a0had raised concerns against\u00a0the authority which issued the divorce certificate and its subsequent verification from the local union council in the petition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
