Bollywood contemporaries and real-life cousins Rani Mukerji and Kajol opened up on their years-long cold war for the first time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the recently-dropped new episode of Karan Johar\u2019s\u00a0\u2018Koffee With Karan\u2019<\/em> season 8, featuring A-list actors and off-screen cousins Kajol and Rani Mukerji, the two addressed their equation off camera, which has been the topic of tabloid headlines for years.<\/p>\n

Refuting the claims of rifts between them, the \u2018Dilwale\u2019<\/em> actor said, \u201cNothing really like that. It was just an organic distance. Where work is concerned it\u2019s more that both of us liked where we were.\u201d<\/p>\n

To which, Mukerji continued, \u201cBecause I have known her as a kid and she was\u00a0Kajol\u00a0didi<\/em> for me and it was a bit strange.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess when you grow apart you really don\u2019t know the reason why because you don\u2019t meet that often because Kajol didi<\/em> used to stay in town and we were in Juhu. Me and Tanisha were much closer and we are still. But Kajol didi<\/em> was always closer to the boys of the family. So, it was a bit strange,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Speaking further, \u2018Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway\u2019<\/em> actor mentioned that the two came closer when they both lost their fathers. \u201cIt\u2019s just an organic thing, as families when you lose your loved ones. I was close to Kajol\u2019s dad (Shomu Mukerjee). When you go through tough times and losses, that\u2019s when everybody comes closer,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

Kajol and Rani Mukerji shared the screen space in Karan Johar\u2019s debut directorial \u2018Kuch Kuch Hota Hai\u2019<\/em> (1998), co-starring Shahrukh Khan. Mukerji also had an extended cameo in the former\u2019s \u2018Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n
