{"id":29997,"date":"2023-11-30T12:44:21","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T12:44:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/shehbaz-sharif-to-contest-election-from-this-karachi-na-seat\/"},"modified":"2023-11-30T12:44:21","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T12:44:21","slug":"shehbaz-sharif-to-contest-election-from-this-karachi-na-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/shehbaz-sharif-to-contest-election-from-this-karachi-na-seat\/","title":{"rendered":"Shehbaz Sharif to contest election from this Karachi NA seat"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_86\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p><strong>ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has urged Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) to support party president Shehbaz Sharif on one National Assembly seat in Karachi during general elections, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif had contested from NA-249 Karachi constituency in the 2018 general elections but suffered defeat against Faisal Vawda.<\/p>\n<p>The PML-N put forwarded the demand during another round of talks held with MQM-P in Islamabad on electoral alliance and seat adjustment ahead of the general elections 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The fresh round of talks was held at PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal\u2019s residence in Islamabad.<\/p>\n<p>The session was attended by MQM-P\u2019s central leaders Dr Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal, Syed Aminul Haque, PML-N\u2019s Ahsan Iqbal, Zahid Hamid, Bashir Memon and Khawaja Saad Rafique.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s Dr Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal, Syed Aminul Haque, PML-N\u2019s Ahsan Iqbal, Zahid Hamid, Bashir Memon and Khawaja Saad Rafique.\">Sources told<\/a> ARY News that MQM-P leaders have excused themselves from adjusting traditional seats with PML-N in Karachi. However, MQM-P showed agreement on seat adjustment in some constituencies of Hyderabad and Sindh constituencies.<\/p>\n<p>MQM-P leaders also presented a charter of constitutional amendments to the Local Government (LG) Act.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/pml-n-mqm-p-agree-on-forming-grand-alliance-in-sindh\/\">PML-N, MQM-P agree on forming \u2018grand alliance\u2019 in Sindh<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While addressing a press conference, Ahsan Iqbal said PML-N assured MQM-P of maximum cooperation and it will pass a constitutional amendment regarding the local governments after coming into power.<\/p>\n<p>Iqbal said PML-N is ready to work with MQM-P to address issues in major cities.
