{"id":28991,"date":"2023-11-27T13:46:04","date_gmt":"2023-11-27T13:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/lhc-disposes-of-inadmissible-plea-seeking-removal-of-pm-kakar\/"},"modified":"2023-11-27T13:46:04","modified_gmt":"2023-11-27T13:46:04","slug":"lhc-disposes-of-inadmissible-plea-seeking-removal-of-pm-kakar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/lhc-disposes-of-inadmissible-plea-seeking-removal-of-pm-kakar\/","title":{"rendered":"LHC disposes of \u2018inadmissible plea\u2019 seeking removal of PM Kakar\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_98\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p><strong>LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday disposed of a petition seeking removal of Anwaarul Haq Kakar as caretaker Prime Minister (PM) \u201cfor failure to carry out his constitutional duties,\u201d ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LHC Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan announced the reserved verdict on a petition filed by Advocate \u2013 Muhammad Muqasit Saleem.<\/p>\n<p>The petition contended that the Anwaarul Haq Kakar\u2019s appointment as caretaker prime minister has become ineffective following the completion of the stipulated 90-day term.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner highlights that the caretaker prime minister\u2019s term officially concluded on November 15, emphasising that neither the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) nor any constitutional court has extended the term.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe absence of an official extension raises questions about the legal standing of the prime minister\u2019s continued tenure,\u201d the petition stated.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner further stated the caretaker prime minister had failed to fulfill his constitutional obligation and could not hold elections in time.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the petition urged the Lahore High Court (LHC) to issue an order for the immediate removal of the caretaker prime minister from office.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Advocate Muhammad Muqsit Saleem also moved the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), requesting the institution to declare the \u201cextended stay\u201d of caretaker Prime Minister (PM) Anwaarul Haq Kakar beyond the prescribed timeframe as \u2018unconstitutional\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The request was made through a plea filed before the ECP praying to restrain the caretaker PM from holding his office and carrying out its functions till the matter was decided by this commission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script type=\"rocketlazyloadscript\">\n  window.fbAsyncInit = function() {\n    FB.init({\n      appId      : '161345524510473',\n      cookie     : true,\n      xfbml      : true,\n      version    : 'v3.0'\n    });\n    FB.AppEvents.logPageView();   \n  };\n  (function(d, s, id){\n     var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];\n     if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;}\n     js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;\n     js.src = \"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js\";\n     fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);\n   }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));\n<\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday disposed of a petition seeking removal of Anwaarul Haq Kakar as caretaker Prime Minister (PM) \u201cfor failure to carry out his constitutional duties,\u201d ARY News reported.
