The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday appointed Sher Afzal Khan Marwat \u2013 a member of Chairman Imran Khan\u2019s legal team \u2013 as party\u2019s senior vice president.<\/p>\n

The party shared Marwat\u2019s appointment notification, which was signed by Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, on social media platform X.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is notified that Mr Sher Afzal Khan Marwat is hereby appointed as Senior Vice President, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf with immediate effect,\u201d the notification read.<\/p>\n

Expressing his gratitude, Marwat maintained that his new responsibilities would encourage him to work harder. \u201cI am indebted to PTI Chairman Imran Khan for his trust in me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, PTI leaders Qasim Suri, Firdous Shamim Naqvi and Saifullah Abro were also appointed as party\u2019s senior vice presidents.<\/p>\n

Last month, a case was registered against Marwat on allegations of instigating the public against state institutions through social media. The charges against him fell under sections 120-B (punishment for criminal conspiracy) and 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups) of the Pakistan Penal Code.<\/p>\n

In a surprising turn of events, an internal row arose within the legal team of PTI in September after Marwat accused Shoaib Shaheen, a fellow member of the legal team, of being a \u201ctraitor and leaking confidential information\u201d from their meetings.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Marwat claimed that his suspicion of Shaheen arose from his mysterious appearance within the party ranks in late April, saying he was surprised upon seeing Shaheen present at a legal committee meeting held at PTI’s headquarters in Bani Gala.<\/p>\n

Separately, PTI appointed former Punjab MPA Seemabia Tahir as party\u2019s president for north Punjab.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
