Two soldiers were martyred on Wednesday after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on a security forces\u2019 convoy in the Razmak area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s North Waziristan district, the military\u2019s media affairs wing said.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) identified the martyred soldiers as 33-year-old Lance Naik Ehsan Badshah and 30-year-old Lance Naik Sajid Hussain.<\/p>\n

\u201cSanitisation operation is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists present in the area as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,\u201d the ISPR said.<\/p>\n

A day earlier, the ISPR said that a soldier embraced martyrdom<\/a> in an IED blast in North Waziristan, while separate intelligence-based operations in Dera Ismail Khan and South Waziristan districts left at least three militants dead.<\/p>\n

Last week, four militants were killed<\/a> and a soldier was martyred in separate operations in Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan.<\/p>\n

Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in terror activities in recent months, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, after the banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire<\/a> with the government last year.<\/p>\n
