ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday resumed hearing of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif\u2019s pleas against convictions in Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His pleas against convictions in accountability references were earlier restored for hearing by the court.<\/p>\n

PML-N supreme leader, who has returned from self-exile in London on October 21, was reached to the courtroom accompanied by party leaders Marriyum Aurangzeb and Ishaq Dar.<\/p>\n

A high court division bench headed by Chief Justice Aamir Farooq resumed hearing as Sharif\u2019s lawyer Azam Nazeer Tarar approached the rostrum.<\/p>\n

NAB\u2019s deputy prosecutor general Naeem Tariq Sanghera, prosecutors Afzal Qureshi and Rafay Maqsood were also present in the court.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow much time you will take for arguments on both appeals,\u201d Justice Aamir Farooq asked Azam Nazeer Tarar.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will first present arguments over appeal in the Avenfield reference\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe court has already given decision over appeals of Maryam Nawaz and Capt. Safdar in Avenfield case,\u201d Amjad Pervaiz Advocate said. \u201cThe high court\u2019s decision in the case was not challenged thus the verdict has become final,\u201d Azam Nazeer said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have made preparation for the Avenfield appeal today,\u201d Tarar further said.<\/p>\n

How much time you have required for arguments on the appeal, chief justice asked. \u201cI have required maximum time of two hearings,\u201d Amjad Pervaiz replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not necessary that the arguments completed in two hearings, we have to look over the entire case,\u201d court remarked. \u201cIn my view the case has been maximum of six hours,\u201d Tarar said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have heard the appeal of the Avenfield reference and knows facts of the case. However, we both members of bench didn\u2019t hear the appeal in Al-Azizia reference,\u201d chief justice said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you require six to eight hours for arguments in Avenfield case,\u201d CJ IHC questioned the lawyer. \u201cI think we will require four to six hours,\u201d Azam Nazeer Tarar replied.<\/p>\n

NAB Prosecutor said that he will require around half to two hours for arguments. \u201cIs it means that the NAB has to say nothing,\u201d chief justice remarked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are fixing the hearing on next Monday, if needed we will hear the case daily,\u201d the bench said.<\/p>\n

Tarar pleaded for daily hearing of the case, \u201cWe will not waste a miniute\u201d he further said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are fixing the hearing on Monday, the time will be conveyed to you,\u201d Justice Aamir Farooq said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you representing Nawaz Sharif,\u201d Justice Miangul Aurangzeb questioned. \u201cI will assist the court,\u201d Amjad Pervaiz replied.<\/p>\n

The court adjourned the hearing till Monday and will hear arguments on Nawaz Sharif\u2019s appeals on November 27.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
