An anti-corruption court (ATC) in Lahore has rejected the bail application of PTI President and former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi in a case pertaining to illegal hiring in the Punjab Assembly.<\/p>\n

The former Punjab chief minister has been accused of illegally appointing Muhammad Khan Bhatti as principal secretary in the Punjab Assembly.<\/p>\n

The prosecution sought the dismissal of the bail application. After hearing the arguments of the lawyers, the court rejected Elahi’s bail plea.<\/p>\n

Last month, the Punjab\u2019s anti-corruption watchdog claimed that it had recovered over Rs4.1 million from the residence of Elahi, maintaining that the PTI leader had allegedly received money as a bribe from aspirants of different posts at the Punjab Assembly during his term as the legislature\u2019s speaker.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
