Committed to transparency, responsible practices, and building a sustainable energy future, K-Electric unveils its Sustainability Report 2023. Themed \u201cPowering Possi-bilities\u201d, the report illustrates the on-going efforts of the organization in setting targets and executing interven-tions that ensure progress towards the company\u2019s sus-tainable future.<\/p>\n

At this occasion, Moonis Alvi, Chief Executive Officer, KE said, \u201cThe energy sector faces its own trilemma \u2013 Sustainability, particularly Climate Change, Affordabili-ty, and Energy Security \u2013 to achieve sustainable goals and striking the right balance between these elements is imperative for the effective functioning of the energy ecosystem. As we navigate through these difficult times, the responsibility we have towards our customers, share-holders, the environment, and the communities we serve drives our actions. This report highlights our progress, challenges, and our ambitious vision for a sustainable fu-ture.\u201d The report contains information about KE\u2019s opera-tions from the Company\u2019s Fiscal Year 2023, from<\/p>\n

July 01, 2022 to June 30, 2023 and includes both quantitative data and qualitative insights. With reference to the Glob-al Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, KE\u2019s commit-ment and efforts have been showcased under 11 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the re-port. The SDGs broadly include \u2018Good Health and Well-Being\u2019, \u2018Quality Education\u2019, \u2018Gender Equality\u2019, \u2018Clean Water and Sanitation\u2019, \u2018Clean Energy\u2019, \u2018Economic Growth\u2019, \u2018Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure\u2019, \u2018Reduced Inequalities\u2019, \u2018Sustainable Cities & Communities\u2019, \u2018Responsible Consumption\u2019, and \u2018Climate Action\u2019. During FY 23, KE has achieved 23 percent reduction in Greenhouse Gas Emissions compared to FY 22, a success attributed to the integration of highly efficient energy generation.<\/p>\n

Towards sustainable cities and communities, KE has invested around PKR 150 million in rehabilitation works. By introducing several key environment-friendly initiatives such as Hara Qadam and conversion of cus-tomers towards paperless billing, KE has saved over 4,000 trees, 94,000 kg of waste, and 200 million liters of water.<\/p>\n
