{"id":25615,"date":"2023-11-17T19:01:50","date_gmt":"2023-11-17T19:01:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/diwali-lights-up-rawalpindi-temples-the-express-tribune\/"},"modified":"2023-11-17T19:01:50","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T19:01:50","slug":"diwali-lights-up-rawalpindi-temples-the-express-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/diwali-lights-up-rawalpindi-temples-the-express-tribune\/","title":{"rendered":"Diwali lights up Rawalpindi temples | The Express Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"\">\n<strong class=\"location-names\"><br \/>\nRAWALPINDI:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">The Hindu community in Rawalpindi embraced the joyous occasion of Diwali with fervor, dedication, and reverence at the temples of Saddar, Lal Kurti, and Gracey Line.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">The Shri Krishna Lal Mandir in Kabari Baazar Saddar Rawalpindi Cantt hosted the most significant Diwali celebration, drawing active participation from children and women of Hindu families, all adorned in traditional attire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">The festivities were organised by the Hindu Sikh Welfare Council, with Council President Sardar Heera Laal, Vice President Kaniya Laal, and Secretary General Rangi Ram coordinating special prayers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">Constructed in 1897 by affluent Hindu brothers Kanji Mal and Ujagar Mal Ram, the Shri Krishna Ram Mandir boasts 126 years of rich history. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong><span style=\"color:black\">Read\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2446127\/bang-diwali-celebrations-begin\">Bang! Diwali celebrations begin<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">Initially closed in 1947 during the establishment of Pakistan, the temple was reopened in 1949 and entrusted to the local Hindu community for religious ceremonies. In 1970, it was leased to the Hindu Panchayat by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and continues to be managed by the Hindu Sikh Council.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:black\">Recently renovated at a cost of Rs20 million, the temple stands as a testament to Hindu Mughal architecture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">In honour of Diwali, the three temples, particularly the Shri Krishna Ram Temple, were adorned with colourful electric lighting and flags. Throughout the day and into the night, families, including children were engaged in worship, and melodious performances, and partook in special prasad (niyaz) arrangements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">Special prayers were dedicated to the development, prosperity, and security of Pakistan.
