For Elizabeth Debicki, portraying Princess Diana on\u00a0\u2018The Crown\u2019<\/em>\u00a0for two seasons created a sense of responsibility to be as authentic as possible for the many people who revere the British royal family.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a profound sense of tragedy that lives in your body when you play that part of the story,\u201d Debicki told Reuters in an interview. \u201cBut having watched it, which I recently did, and while the credits are rolling, I thought this was a really serious thing that we put on the screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two-part sixth, and final, season of \u2018The Crown\u2019<\/em> explores Princess Diana\u2019s final days before she perishes in a car accident. It premieres on Netflix on November 16.<\/p>\n

As a historical drama, the Emmy-winning drama series created by Peter Morgan seeks to tell the story of Queen Elizabeth\u2019s reign against the backdrop of various royal dramas.<\/p>\n

Debicki believes it\u2019s a common experience for \u2018The Crown\u2019<\/em> actors to struggle to \u2018let go\u2019 and stop \u2018observing\u2019 themselves while filming the show.<\/p>\n

The pressure of capturing the British royals is intense, especially when depicting the loss of a princess to whom many people still feel connected, she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, we left all the pieces of ourselves up there on the screen, because it deserves nothing less than that,\u201d Debicki said.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Khalid Abdalla \u2013 who portrays Dodi Fayed, Egyptian billionaire Mohamed al-Fayed\u2019s son, who was in a romantic relationship with Princess Diana \u2013 viewed his work with Elizabeth Debicki as a huge responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe process of doing it together has been everything that you would wish for in collaboration,\u201d he said, referring to working with Debicki.<\/p>\n

He went into the final season also thinking about how the loss of Princess Diana is still a \u2018cultural trauma\u2019 for \u2018millions of people around the world\u2019.<\/p>\n

Abdalla said the sacredness of what \u2018The Crown\u2019<\/em> cast was recreating was something to which he wanted to give dignity.<\/p>\n
